Join guest instructor Meghan McLyman on Saturday April 29th to dive deep into movement quality and physical storytelling for circus!

Using an eclectic blend of contemporary dance practices and Laban Movement Analysis/Bartenieff Fundamentals (LMA/BF), participants will explore different ways of thinking about, talking about, and creating movement, and then practice applying those concepts to their circus discipline of choice.

Elements of floor-based movement will be included in this workshop, but no formal dance training is required. Students should be at Level 201 or higher in their chosen circus discipline, and must be comfortable creating a short sequence that they can perform safely without direct input from an instructor.

Join Tyler Jacobson for a Contortion Fundamentals workshop at Esh on Friday April 28th from 10am-12pm!

The first half of the workshop will explain how to safely develop leg and back flexibility; the second half will focus on the technical cues needed to develop classic contortion positions. Skills covered in this workshop may include oversplits, needle scales, cheststands, and contortion handstands/elbowstands.
