Having decided to become an elephant rider in Barnum & Bailey, Alexis Hedrick began her circus training with Splash Circus in Oakland, CA at age 10. Although there were no elephants, she excelled at acrobatics, aerials, juggling, and clowning. She went on to work with Master Lu Yi and the San Francisco Youth Circus, learning traditional Chinese Acrobatics and touring the Bay Area with contemporary circus shows directed by Gypsy Snider (7 Fingers) and Aloysia Gavre (Cirque du Soleil). After her alter ego finished a BA in Psychology and French at Vassar College and a fellowship in neurodevelopment, Alexis returned to circus full-time at the National Institute of Circus Arts in Melbourne, Australia where she majored in aerial rope, cyr wheel, and comedy acrobatics.
Alexis has performed and taught across the US, Australia, and the South Pacific, and is delighted to share her knowledge and passion with the Boston circus community!
