Zahra Garrett

Instructor

Zahra is a multidisciplinary dancer with over thirty years of experience who has trained with teachers in Portland, OR, San Francisco, Washington DC, and New York City. She fell into circus in 2013 as a way to explore new ways of moving and began teaching dance to circus artists around 2018. Zahra’s teaching philosophy is rooted in sharing her deep love of movement with her students, helping them develop their independent learning processes, and fostering an appreciation of dance technique along the way. A recent transplant from Portland, OR, Zahra has choreographed for and performed with PDX Dance Collective and taught both youth and adult dance classes at The Circus Project. Locally, she was a guest Horton technique instructor for the Professional Prep Program at Esh in the fall of 2022.
