Alexis Hedrick
Instructor
Having decided to become an elephant rider in Barnum & Bailey when she grew up, Alexis Hedrick left competitive gymnastics to join local youth troupe Splash Circus in Oakland, CA at age 10. Although there were no elephants, she fell in love with acrobatics, aerials, juggling, and clowning. She went on to work with Master Lu Yi and the San Francisco Youth Circus, learning traditional Chinese acrobatics such as hoop diving and Chinese pole, and performing around California. After her alter ego finished a BA in Psychology and French at Vassar College and a fellowship in neurodevelopment, Alexis returned to circus full-time at the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) in Melbourne, Australia where she majored in aerial rope, cyr wheel, and comedy acrobatics.
Alexis has performed all around the world on cruise ships, around the US with Flynn Creek Circus, Shanghai Circus and All Wheels Sports, and locally with the Boston Circus Guild as well as Circus 617, a contemporary circus collective she co-founded in 2020. She has taught circus all throughout her career, and has been a coach at Esh since 2015. She loves sharing her knowledge and passion with the Boston circus community!
