Mary Fries


Mary has over 12 years of experience in youth education, including pre-K yoga and elementary school theatre. She has co-authored a mathematics course and a professional book for teachers, led development of a suite of mathematics puzzle apps, and is currently co-developing a computer science curriculum.

Mary has a B.S. in mathematics, an M.A. in philosophy, cosmology, and consciousness, and a C.A.G.S. degree in mathematics education. She loves to garden, paint, and ride her dual-sport motorcycle. She has also acted in, directed, and stage managed numerous community theatre productions in Massachusetts, New York, Virginia, and Vermont including several interactive performances and a puppet show.

Mary has been studying circus at Esh Circus Arts since the beginning of 2015 and currently studies aerial straps, hand balancing, partner acrobatics, and rope. She began her study of circus in 2006 on Motivity trapeze, an improv-based form of aerial dance, and has also studied silks and contortion. She is thrilled to share her passion for education and love of circus movement with the children and families in the Youth Program at Esh!
